Over the past 5 years, I have been researching why there are some small businesses that grow from obscurity to mega-performers and high profile brands in just a few years, while most struggle to survive, let alone thrive.
While there are incredible success stories in almost every industry, they all have three things in common;
 
They know their market intimately. They understand what their customers value most, and their expectations and preferences in life or business. They use this knowledge to shape the products and services they create, the operations of their business, and the way they communicate with their market.
 
They use their market intelligence to differentiate their business in a way that customers’ value – they create a customer experience that customers’ desire, and a business that they prefer to deal with over other competitors.
 
They know how to educate, inform and articulate ideas to their market in a way that inspires and motivates customer buying behaviour, builds loyalty, and spreads their message way beyond the reach of their marketing activities.
 
Are they brilliant at what they do, master tacticians that are gifted beyond the capabilities of mortal humans? Not at all. In fact most struggle initially to get their head around what it takes to succeed, but they are incredibly persistent, disciplined, and focused on the task at hand. But above all, they are willing to learn and acquire the knowledge they need to understand their market, create a desirable business and achieve their dream.
 
I have used what I have learned from this research combined with my own lifetime experience in marketing, as a manager and as a business owner to create a series of marketing and business development manuals that can help any business to reach its potential and become a desirable and profitable business within its own market.
